Our First Visit to Ottawa's Haunted Hostel
|
This is the outside of the Ottawa International Hostel once known as the Jail House There may be a distortion in the upper right hand window which is the death row cells but we're not sure. |
This is inside another cell. I believe there's an orb to the left just below the curve of the ceiling.

This is from the entrance to death row. There may be a distortion just beyond the white doors. Interestingly when we toured it with the guide we had no problem. When we went back Chris suddenly paled and said he wanted to get out of there. I honestly thought he was going to be sick. He stayed behind while Sarah and I went on.

We believe there's distortion beyond these doors too. I couldn't go any further when we investigated by ourselves. This grey doorway is the fourth death row cell where they use to keep the prisoner in isolation before execution. It use to have doors but they had to remove the doors because they kept slamming shut and there were injuries in certain incidents. Sarah went further but a short time later she saw something black out of the corner of her eye and we decided it was time to leave. |

This is another shot of the death row cells. There seems to be distortion just beyond the first door of the suicide watch (or fourth cell). |
This is a photo taken from within the death row cell and our best distortion picture. This was taken I believe during our tour.

This is the gallows and I believe there's an orb just to the left of the rope.

Laura's view
I won't go into a great lot of detail about the Hostel background. It use to be a jail and three people were executed there. That's enough for a proper haunting. We did the tour and with the group I had no problem though in retrospect I wasn't crazy about the guard room at the end of death row. It wasn't until we went back up on our own, Me Sarah, Chris and my dad that things sort of happened. Suddenly Chris couldn't go forward. He didn't want to go any further and he wanted out. Honestly I thought he was going to be sick. He looked spooked. (He'll put in his view later). So Chris and Dad stayed near the entrance to the death row hallway while Sarah and I went ahead. Unfortunately I didn't go much further when I had to stop as well. My energy began to rise and I got jumpy. There's no reason for this as far as I can see. I may have been picking up on Chris but I couldn't sit still. So I went back to Chris and Sarah and Dad went ahead and just as suddenly as it began Chris and I calmed and we were fine though I knew it was time to go. Sarah went the length of the hallway with dad and took a couple of pictures (see below) then just as we were leaving she decided she wanted to see if she could make it down the hallway alone. That's when she freaked. She made it almost to door number 4 where the prisoners spent their last day before execution when suddenly she jumped and ran back down to us. She said she saw a dark shadow in the cell. It was time to leave and it took a while to calm down. But I'd go back.
